Pivotal Wines

Pivotal Wines began with a personal connection. Our co-founder Ema introduced us to Peter Chowaniec, a winemaker at Vínne pivnice Svätý Jur, a producer in Slovakia's oldest wine region, just outside Bratislava. What started as a family recommendation became a business: we are now the exclusive Dutch importer for his wines, bringing a country almost entirely absent from Dutch wine lists into Dutch glasses. Our six-wine portfolio spans Chardonnay, Rizling Rýnsky, Pálava, Cabernet Sauvignon (a rosé-style wine), Pesecká Leánka, and Dunaj — Slovakia's own indigenous red grape. Each bottle is imported directly, stored and shipped from Amsterdam, and priced to give independent retailers real margin, not just another line on a shelf. We believe good wine should have a short, honest distance between the person who made it and the person who pours it. That's the story we want every bottle to carry.
